As Finland intensifies its efforts on green transition, offshore wind power is emerging as a critical component of its renewable energy strategy. In under a decade, commercial wind power surpassed all other electricity generation modes in terms of cost efficiency. In 2023, wind power accounted for 18% of the electricity generation mix. The installed capacity is expected to reach 8 GW at the end of 2024, primarily from onshore wind. While the installed offshore capacity is still modest, the pipeline is extensive, and development has accelerated in recent years.
